I own my home and farm free and clear, no mortgage since the 90s, bought in 1961. Then it was $100/acre. Now $10k/acre is an offer I'd pull a gun on you for because it's absurdly low. And if I skipped my $900 property taxes for three years the county would seize it and sell it from under me for $3k. Gotta pay the state.

Lol, I switched to eating like that and it tripled my food cost, that's all high end stuff these days. It's not sugary or processed so it's expensive. Lost 130lbs in 2 years on keto carnivore though.

Depends on circumstances. Here in the US I have a 8 figure net worth because of my property, so to leave I'd just turn into a homeless guy from America with a bunch of cash, I'd lost my roots and stability, and I'd never get back what I have, farms like mine are gone, it's WHY it's so valuable, everyone wants to rape it into houses. I'm John Dutton-ing over here, leave me be.

$110k a year is luxury here in Missouri, but I also own everything outright and have zero debt. My expenses for the year are about $20k, and my neighbor renting my farmland to grow on covers most of that, so its mostly disposable income. That's my advice, get a good job, and inherit. And live in the middle of nowhere. People told me to get a dog but that's even more responsibility than a girlfriend, so I got a 2024 Ninja 500 instead.

Last time I ran my expenses for a year it was $13,000 all told. That's taxes, gas, power, propane, phone, starlink, food, water, exterminator, and including all insurance. The crops my neighbor grows on my land bring in about $15k so already profitable. And I NET $110k/above that. Still alone and mostly miserable lol. I'm thinking about starting to work for myself farming.

Fun fact, 100% service connection disability pension from the US army is UNTAXED. My dad lives with me and combines that with my earnings. I net $40k, he nets $64k. And we're debt free. It's nice. He's 84 and I'm doing my good only son duty of seeing him out, then the 100 acres is mine. I've laughed off $10k/acre offers, since 2000. I want $100k/acre. And I can sit her forever until I get it, or not, I don't want to sell.

I agree, but I can't blame someone who exploits the 'influencer economy' and is making 7 figures in their 20s sitting on stream all day. I say if you can, do that for a year or two and maybe not retire, but f off to do whatever you want to for your middle age.

Agreed, same here, 40. I did finance a sport bike in April just for my credit score. First ever auto loan and it boosted my fico score to 830. I'll cash pay it off by Christmas, just have to game the game.
