Because he's a good attorney that, critically in my opinion, spent the first 7 years of his legal career as a DEFENSE attorney before becoming a federal government attorney. A big problem we have in our government is we have tons of attorneys that have never defended a client FROM the government trying to put them in a cage. It's a mindset that has to be developed. It's a huge issue SCOTUS has, 9 of the best legal minds in the US, ZERO defense attorneys, EVERY Justice is a former PROSECUTOR, and when all you've ever done is prosecute, every problem looks like it needs to be prosecuted, whereas a defense attorney spends their time finding holes in the schemes government is trying to pull, not thinking of said schemes. The prosecution fails their case, meh, looks bad on my record. A defense attorney fails their case, a real actual human being they've gotten to know and probably care about has their life destroyed.
