@weispresidentnow You know what made me read WAY MORE? Reading Fahrenheit 451 in 5th grade. It astounded me when I got to high school that people had not already read the books we were assigned in English class. How do you get to your teenage years without reading 1984, Animal Farm, Brave New World, Slaughterhouse 5?

Why are you starting trade wars with China that necessitate submarines because they keep sailing warships next to your beaches? Why did China annihilate the Aussie wine industry with tariffs? Why did Australia cut off coal exports to China and make China the #1 buyer of AMERICAN coal, millions of tons per DAY? Why are you flying around in helicopters during covid telling people to go back indoors? Why did you consider literally putting unvaxxed humans in concentration camps? There are a LOT of Australian questions I have I'd like answered.

Municipal government, department head/director, I can buy almost anything I need, as long as it's under $500. Anything over that needs a purchase order approved by my boss and a budget justification, anything over $6000 needs that AND a vote of the city council in a regular meeting. I run a water treatment plant, so if it's over $500 it's usually 10x that. The most I've ever had to ask for was $65,000 emergency spending for a new water pump. I got the money that day, emergency council meeting...then it took 16 weeks to have the pump built. That was expedited. Post covid just about anything of real consequence equipment-wise is 12-16 week wait no matter how much $ you throw at it.

Take that back, it was before I was promoted to Director, when I was Assistant, I had to requisition and entirely new sludge basin scraper system and it's parts, that was like $20k one time, $20k the next month, then when we really started working on it, $50K more in parts. We did all our own labor. We had the manufacturer quote that same job and on top of that parts cost they wanted $200k in labor.

It's driving me crazy. Oh what's the big deal with this spending, it's only (insert astronomical to most sum here)...YEAH, but it ADDS UP. If you have a million dollars, and you spend $1000 every day, you can only do that for 1000 days and it's GONE. If you have a billion dollars, and you spend a million per day, it's gone in 1000 days. If you have a trillion dollars, and you're spending a billion a day, it still only lasts 1000 days. Now realize we're talking about spending hundreds of billions a day.
