My mother passed away from non-covid related issues in April 2020 (unless you blame all the damn hospitals being closed for no reason and it being hard to get her the medical care she needed before it was too late, which I DO). She was 76. I had thought I was adjusting over the insanity of the rest of 2020. I contracted covid the week of Christmas 2020, and it was mild, actually the least sick time I've gotten sick in recent years. Usually I get strep around the holidays and it's horrible. I just had a minor fever for 2 days felt generally run down, no breathing issues. Just needed rest. I distinctly remember making some hot chocolate one of those evenings, and it hit me all at once, like a crashing wave: This is the first time in my 37 years she's not here, not trying to fuss over my when I'm sick while I pretend not to want her to, and she never will again. That kind of stuff is hard to deal with for anyone, no way I'd want to come close to anything like that 30 years younger.

If anything, I worked and was out MORE during this whole pandemic, staying stocked on things, dealing with shortages that drive you to multiple stores, when are in reduced hours so you go more often, sheesh. Life has been back to mostly normal where I live in northeast Missouri for, hell, almost 6 months now. I have covid, very minor, at Christmas and after that I was full on f-it mode. I had the natural vaccine.

  30. The whole irony of Bruce-Kaitlyn is, as a woman, 'they' are still in a physical form that was a 6'2" 178lbs Olympic decathlon gold medalist. That's a pretty imposing physical presence, not an asset most women are used to wielding.
