  1. 8:40 this is a big plot hole in many stories: the earth is not special or particularly abundant in natural resources on a spacefaring scale. Any race that came to earth to plunder our stuff, iron, gold, water, and so on, would have to pass dozens of larger, abundant, FREE sources in space on the way here. It's like driving past the corner gas station and getting on the interstate to the grocery store when all you want is a bottle of soda. You can do it, but why go so far out of your way when you don't need to? The Halo franchise actually used the reverse of this plot hole to determine The Covenant's intent to invade and destroy Earth to kill off and cripple humanity: a line of dialogue states they passed a dozen occupied, better planets on the way to earth once they learned its location.
