  1. It's not a remake if it was never seen or known to it's intended audience. The vast majority of we Americans had never heard of Shameless or House of Cards until after they were popular shows here and people started pointing to their overseas originals. As far as we are concerned, our versions ARE the originals, and the UK versions are something else, and will be based comparatively to the first version We saw. Doctor Who is also similar. I'd never watched a single second of the show until Season 2 of the new series and I fell completely in love with it, I've seen them all, many multiple times, but when I go back to the past and try to watch 'classic' Doctor Who, it's completely unwatchable expecting something like the modern series.
