I'm not married, never have been, but I'm friends with a LOT of older people in multi-decade marriages, and one feature I notice consistently with all of them, you see one of them in public, the FIRST question anyone who knows them asks is "Where is (spouse)?" because it's RARE to see them without each other, so there has to be some reason it's not BOTH of them there. They're literally no longer individuals, they're a SET, lol, like seeing a salt shaker, you automatically ask "where's the pepper shaker?". You just EXPECT to see them together, it's weird not to. I noticed this at the gym the other day, now I'm not saying this chick was at all interested in me, I wasn't at all, but I go to a treadmill after using a machine near her (she was sitting using her phone, sigh), and she walks all the way over, past 10 other treadmills, to the end of the row where I am and starts using the treadmill behind me. If I'm going to be responsible for something, I'm taking charge of it. I had a coworker running a project, he had some issues, I gave him some guidance on how to deal with those issues, maybe I was like 1% a dick about it lol, and he comes back with "WELL, you're the Director of the department, so ultimately you're responsible if this fails". I replied you're right, and with that you're relieved, I'm stepping in and taking over, guys, hey guys, stop that, go over there and start on XYZ instead, I'm taking charge, we're getting this done. He went and sat in the work truck for two hours after that, sulking, what a leader lol. Wouldn't even help after that.
