Today, on Top Gear, we'll be racing from California to Florida, with a v10 F1 Car, a Nissan Leaf, and a surplus Russian Mig 29. Meanwhile, The Stig will be paddling a kayak from Cuba to Miami.

~ Bright Romeo ~ The Boeing 787 is made primarily of carbon fiber and plastic, and it's considered safe enough for global commercial air travel, much like many Airbus composite airframes as well.

We've discovered carbon-based alien life!

That's the wrong way to look at it. It's actually faster than a Ariel Atom V8 which is faster than a Veyron ;) OR, if you want to save yourself several million dollars, you could buy a BMW S1000RR or HP4 which will, on the same track, beat all 3 for about $30k

Air date? Or is it December 2013 recent?

2017 update from Missouri: I was bothered today to fill up with 93 premium at 2.89/gallon. It was down to almost $2.50 during the summer. The unrest in Saudi Arabia as the new King offs half the former government is making the oil markets restless.

Fast forward to 5 years later, NASCAR is doing street track F1-style tracks now called a 'Roval', and the first event showed the change in difficulty as even veteran skilled drivers with decades of experience nearly crashed due to not being aware of turns and braking, it was pretty stunning, and also probably the most entertaining NASCAR race I've even seen. Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xo1gHdqDgc He got too tunnel-vision into passing through the high speed bank turn that before he realized they were flying into that chicane he was already balls deep into it at extreme speed, tried to lock the brakes up and ended up crashing them both. That's Jimmy Johnson, only driver to even win 5 championships in a row, one of the most experienced drivers on the track, and that one small lapse of awareness was all it took to sink him.

6:25 checkout the unbuckled seat belts...they make great g-force accelerometers!

Pretty crazy that from 2010 to 2014 we went from the fastest production car top speed being 245mph to now 275 being the goal to beat. It stands to reason that in or by 2020 we'll be seeing 300+mph supercars, and probably superbikes as well.

That's probably the only other production car you could put up against the Veyron, in that race, and end up that close. ///M-Power

And then you realize that's the lesser-performing one we allow foreigners to buy...

I think the Agera R would be an excellent 3rd choice besides these 2 😉

I love the cheering engineering team. They just had better first attempt success, on a tv show, than many state sponsored programs.

And perhaps just as importantly, the Zonda made it around the track in a much more dynamic, exciting fashion. It sounded spectacular, it had wheelspin, controlled oversteer, it just looked like fun. It's astonishing one couldn't be blamed for calling the Veyron run almost boring. That's not what you want in a multi-million $ impractical supercar, because really who is going out and drag racing other million dollar cars and/or hitting 250mph on the road? Not many.
