  1. 14" hole, 1300ft downflow under flooded suction, that's like 86,000lbs of force suctioning water in, before the borehole enlarged. Crazy. Water is dangerous. Unclogging a street drain can be dangerous similar to this due to the same pressure differential effects. Once the drain is open and flowing and emptying a pool of water, and the piping is full, if you get a limb in that drain the force of the draining water under gravity WILL dismember you. Water on the move in a filled pipe tends to move as a single mass regardless of size as it cannot compress. This is where water hammer comes from, and that same effect works the other way with vacuum. I work in a water plant and you learn to respect the water, it's a force unto itself.
