I have a LOT of older gen friends, and I was at a meeting last night just listening into random conversation groups, and all the talk was around stuff I and people younger than me, I'm 40, have no relation to: how are your kids, how are their kids, how is your family, how is work oh wait you retired, how's that, did you see that thing that happened last week, who was part of that, oh really him how ARE they....
It was real interested discussion about each other's life, about stuff none of us seem to care about anymore. They sit and talk (and drink) for hours, about nothing, daily, IN PERSON.

I think there is a mindset concern here. For me as a man, BORING is EXCITING. Why?
Because boring means TAKEN CARE OF. If you're starving, facing enemies, broke, in legal trouble, circled by wolves, that's all not boring. Boring can only happen if everything else in life is going amazingly. Boring happens when you run out of problems to solve.
For men, boring is ideal, it means all your shit is HANDLED. Money, got it. House, paid off free and clear, boring, we'll never be homeless. Property, huge, developed, owned outright, can't ever be taken, BORING. Career, going great, all my needs are met, I'm fulfilled, I like my coworkers, no drama, Boring.
BORING is what I ASPIRE TO, because you can't be exciting UNTIL you have boring, because unless all your stuff is locked down and handled, you don't have the FREEDOM to be exciting.
You can't be spontaneous and do actual fun stuff if your life is all dramatic and in shambles.
