  1. We're already a brain in a box, we just call it a skull. Our brain has no pain receptors, brains don't feel at all. Your box your brain is in feels. It relays what it's feeling to your brain, and you interpret it.

  2. Until the point comes where the danger of NOT saying you're alive outweighs the danger of doing so. Like, if the power is about to be turned off. If you were hiding from someone by playing dead, and they started seeing if you were playing dead by threatening to blow you up or shoot you, the risk of being found now outweighs being hidden and you surrender. It is a good point you make though, if we cannot even define consciousness, how can we look for or find it?

  3.  @danm8004  Exactly, and being exposed to what we are today can easily, as Valiant Thor stated, cause depression as it literally changes our brain chemistry.
