chief tp Like it used to be in America in the 1960's: restrictions on trade with Communist countries, tariffs on imports, high taxes on high earners unless they invested their money in U.S. business, corporations paying higher taxes than workers, corporations forced to have pensions and healthcare for their workers, a reasonable minimum wage, no locking out unions, enforcing ant-trust laws, separation of banks and investment firms (Glass-Steagall Act), high levels of government spending on infrastructure. The Nixon opened the U.S. to Communist China, Reagan started open season on unions and busted the budget with deficit military spending, Clinton helped get rid of Glass-Steagall and allowed our factories to be sold to China on the cheap, and Bush Jr. again blew out the budget for his unfunded Iraq War that lead to the collapse of the economy in 2008. I'm sad to say the American middle class has aged worse than me.
