  3. Biggest problem with a new Amtrak route is the $1 million to $2 million it costs per mile for rail. It’s probably substantially higher if mountain passes need to be cut like in Colorado.

We certainly don't need to be in Europe and our wars in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan hasn't done anything to improve security for us or anyone, especially the millions who were killed or their lives were completely destroyed by the wars.

  6. Stephen Jenkins Keeping sea lanes open and major trade routes, you do have a point. There is piracy and would get out of control as Somalia proved. South Korea is about the only country that really needs us there. Other countries we can be allied to and offer support to. The problem with Asia is each country seems to hate each other, even though they should be united against aggressive Chinese moves.
