He also ran on a policy of getting Germany out of the depression, nobody was trying to move into Germany. He was a socialist as the name of his party indicated. Your knowledge of history is severely lacking.

  3. If someone is not advocating violence or using speech to cause physical harm, it should always be allowed under the U.S. Constitution. Limiting free speech, racist anti-science DEI policies, inability to articulate policy and not securing borders were reasons Kamala Harris loss.

  8. My parents were immigrants from Germany after World War II. Chicago had a much more old German feel that’s disappearing. Most of what I miss is all the local German bakeries and Meyer’s Deli. Only a couple German bakeries and Paulina Meat Market on Lincoln are still there. There are still old German style stores in the Milwaukee area.

  9. I’m an retired American, my parents were from Germany. I have an electric water kettle, drip coffee funnel, buy soda water from Trader Joes, stopped using my shoe horn and have a folding measuring stick in my tool box.

  11.  @Steepll  Germans were desperate when Hitler was appointed and supported by industrialists. He didn’t become chancellor by a popular vote in a free election. He did become popular after Germany came out of its depression, order was restored, his propaganda machine took over, he became dictator and eliminated all opponents. No one could publicly oppose him. He forced compliance. Hitler and his party were created out of anarchy, always used violence and intimidation like many political movements at the time. There’s nothing comparable in the western world today.

  12. My mother was in Germany in World War II, moved to the U.S. in 1951. She was from a Jewish family that was not sent to the camps because her brothers served and died in the military (no choice). Her father could not officially work as a dentist. Her Jewish cousin fled Germany to China before the war and returned after the war. Her single Jewish Aunt was sent to Dachau where she died. She used to make fun of people who were enamored by Hitler. Before she died, she said she didn’t understand why they weren’t sent to the camps. Likely survivor guilt.
