  1. Winter, snow on the ground and sub-zero days are 20% - 30% less than when I was young (60 years ago). Global warming is a real thing.

  2. Fall is usually very nice. Winter doesn't get bad until January. It doesn't snow heavily like the northeast. Sometime spring is great, sometimes it is terrible. Summers can be hot and humid, but nothing compared the the South. Summer heat is the southwest gets about 20 degrees hotter than Chicago. There are very few areas in the world have almost perfect weather.

  3. I'm retired in Illinois and don't pay income tax on my retirement. Chicago area is nice if you can afford to live in a nice neighborhood or nice suburb. It's one of the less expensive major cities in the world. Winters are getting shorter with less snow.
