A coworker never took sick leave and had 60 years of service, got partially paralyzed from a stroke on his way to work and forced to retire.

True, but sometimes these managers lose their jobs and their favorites also go.

If true, you need to look for another job because it’s easier to get hired when you’re already employed.

Don’t wait to look for another job, it’s always easier to get a new job when you’re employed.

Negative gossips and people who take credit for other peoples work are likely narcissists and should be fired.

Except in the few well run companies

@s_ew__p_hie My hobby for half my day for the last half of my career was learning about investments (which paid off) and screenwriting which was enjoyable and educational.

Lowest performers are also most toxic to a business.

From my experience, 80% of people eventually don’t work so hard at home. IBM tried work at home about 30 years ago, productivity dropped and they ended it. Twitter forced people to come back to work and it runs well with about a third less people.

In my old job doing software maintenance and development, work at home was a joke. People were allowed to work at home and it was impossible to get them to call back or respond to work questions. My experience is few people stay as productive at home over time. When it comes to large complex projects, it’s doesn’t work well unless everyone is in the room. People in the office need to do extra work to make up for what work at home people don’t do or are not fully connected to concerning what’s going on for a project.

Most older workers atrophy in the job and aren’t adaptable in their old ago. It’s normally not because they are older.

Get a better job, keep applying.

Problem with AI, it will create the exact same resume for anyone. So employer can create an ideal AI resume and toss out every matching resume.

You’re smarter than me, it took me 15 years at my job to figure out not to sacrifice home life for work.

I’m one of the last to have a full Federal pension with health care insurance carried on into retirement. It ended 18 months after I started. The only reason I stuck out my tech job was for my pension. Five years before I was eligible, a contractor saw my work and wanted to hire me at much higher pay and I had to say no. Companies are stupid because the most flexible and talented employees will leave if treated badly or not properly compensated.

People get too many benefits for not working, paid for by people like me who keeps working in retirement and pay 30% of my income to the federal government. I’m self-employed part time now. Life is tough. Moving up the economic ladder is tough. Keeping up with technology and a changing world is tough.

@MrStv1163 Managers loyalty is with themselves, not the shareholders, other than that I generally agree with you. The last half of my career did the minimum because I saw all the bonuses and promotions going to the connected crowd. I spent half my days for years learning about investing which enabled me to retire at 58. Young people today are much more aware about how most government agencies and large corporations really work. Hopefully, they will not waste their time at work and figure out ways to be productive for themselves.

Nobody is psychic, people are given a chance and new employees can’t cut it.
