Federal Reserve did this in 2008, basically a back door bailout of banks. Banks making ‘profit’ through Fed arbitrage is done on purpose.

Corporations get tax cuts that average people don’t. Corporations can write down value of single family homes, homeowners can’t. Individuals must pay 1% of their entire income into Medicare, corporations (who are essentially treated as people) don’t.

@happymelon7129 Fed only exists by Federal Reserve Act, governors are appointed by President. It’s really an independent agency of the Federal government. Congress could eliminate it tomorrow or make it part of Treasury Department, unlike a private company.

U.S. Constitution only gives Congress the right to coin money, so actually Fed illegally creates dollars, that’s supposed to be under the U.S. Treasury. Federal Reserve will ‘buy’ whatever U.S. government bonds that can’t be sold and do what it’s told from President.

Fed governors don’t know what they’re doing, all political appointees.
