Mitt Romney: What the hell are you doing?
289
@MrSebear New evidence can not possibly reveal that Trump's motive was cheating in an election.
7
Marten Krueger That's probably true, but most Mormons are good people, just not very smart. That's okay though. Everybody has a right to be stupid. The problem is that Romney's strategy is going nowhere. It can only hurt conservatives and won't change the facts.

Free Thinker You already have the truth. President Trump attempted to extort Ukraine into investigating American involvement in their corruption. So What? That's not abuse of power. POTUS is obligated to root out American corruption no matter who did it. Investigating criminal activity by American Citizens in 2014/`15/`16 has nothing to do with the 2020 election. No new evidence can possibly be produced that will prove that Trump's motive was cheating in an election.
5
@bobleroy1924 That could be his thinking, but Trump is not over. His strategy can only hurt Republican chances of retaining the Senate in 2020.
4
Free Thinker Why do you want witnesses?
3
@user-gm2tb8df9d Why? What are you hoping to find that you don't already know?
2
@user-gm2tb8df9d Anything we find out won't change the facts. You can't prove motive!
2
@user-gm2tb8df9d I don't believe Trump was asking for help in an election. He was asking for help bringing criminals to justice. Running for President shouldn't make you immune from investigation. We're talking about crimes committed in 2014/`15/`16. Zelensky was a new President and Trump was soliciting aid in helping him fulfill a campaign promise to drain the swamp.
2
@marclapine1305 Wow Marc! What do you really think? I agree that we don't have to hate each other, and you certainly have reason for your opinion. I have no grounds to dispute anything you said, and I understand why you wouldn't vote for him, but none of that diatribe is reason to remove him from office. I have no knowledge about Donald Trump before he ran for President. I heard he used to fire people on TV, but I've never seen the show. My only opinion of Donald Trump was formed after he announced as a candidate. Like I said before, I don't like him personally, but the measurable results of our country in the first three years of his Presidency is impressive. I will vote for him again in November.
2
@garywilliams2700 Why?
2
@user-gm2tb8df9d I'm on your side on this one Jose.

@jeffw1267 I hope you're wrong about losing the Senate. The Democrat strategy is certainly to cut Trump's coattails. If we do lose the Senate it will be from vicious attacks by the media.
1
@user-gm2tb8df9d Understood! We're all just doing what we can. I do appreciate civil debate though.
1
@debbielucas2594 Agreed
1
@marymcreynolds8355 LOL ...No Doubt!
1
@tobymitchell5133 I hope you're right. However, after the DNC sabotages Bernie again, a lot of his supporters will vote for Trump and their Senate Democrat. The media will rake any vulnerable Republican. I hope voters know that if Republicans lose the Senate, Trump loses the White House. Even if we flip the House he would be powerless.
1
@marclapine1305 I'd welcome any evidence you can produce... in Committee. The Democrats need to get their s**t together and present articles that are actually impeachable.
1
@user-gm2tb8df9d Democrats from cities underestimate the vast size and population of the south and mid-west. You and I will cancel votes, but there are more of me.

@marclapine1305 My motive is for personal financial gain. My mother is 84 years old with only Social Security for income. After Medicare, her insulin cost is $240/mo, eliquis $120/mo, nurse visits for bathing and common personal hygiene $60/wk. Then there's 11 other prescription drugs, not to mention Depense, sanitary wipes, and other necessary related products. We don't need to tie up the Senate for months doing investigations. Send the Managers back to the House and let them get their s**t together so they can present specific articles that are actually impeachable. Do the investigating in Committee, where it belongs, and get busy passing legislation that will lower drug prices. edit: The House knows this. They never had the votes to remove POTUS in the Senate. Their true goal is to taint the Senate for the November elections.
1
@marclapine1305 The House Managers are no longer even arguing that the evidence presented is sufficient to remove a POTUS. They're only asking for more documents and interrogations. Fine! Get it in Committee! Don't tie up the Senate for months.

@marclapine1305 You're right that Congress having Cadillac Care is a problem. Fortunately, my sons and I have VA benefits (my ex has remarried). I don't want the Government to determine the level of care for my mother, or the populous at large. What I want is a competitive market. Doctors and Hospitals should provide specific prices for specific treatment. Also, there are so many layers involved in the distribution of prescription drugs that the costs are artificially inflated and there are no competitive markets. By law, the Senate can't conduct any other business while considering articles of impeachment. Investigation is the purview of the House. Also, it's common for the House and Senate to table resolutions and bills that don't have the votes to pass or are facing a Presidential Veto. The prescription drug bill must pass Committee before being presented to the Whole Senate for vote. That can't happen while considering impeachment. I agree that impeachment defines the Constitution, and is thus a precedent for all time. That's another reason to reject these partisan articles and send a message to the House that if you want to remove a POTUS, do it right. Like I said, the real intent here is to taint the Senate.
1
@marclapine1305 I have done the research, and you're right, the reason for high PX drug costs is the bureaucratic distribution system supported by pharmaceutical lobbyists. My solution of choice is free marketing, not Government takeover. You're also right that I can't honestly assign motive to the members of Congress, although political speculation is fun. And you can't assign motive to President Trump. Donald Trump is not a career politician and he doesn't think the same way as those who accuse him of seeking personal political gain. I'm sure that Donald Trump doesn't like Joe Biden. He probably believes that Biden used his political office to make himself rich, and Trump thinks you should have to get rich the old fashioned way; selling pipe dreams to suckers. I don't like Donald Trump. I think he has the character of a used car salesman... But, he's been a great President and he hasn't done anything impeachable.
1
@pumpkinpaxon3648 Zelensky had only been President for a few months and probably didn't even know what information he had access to. Trump wanted a public commitment to provide assistance with an investigation into criminal activity by American Citizens in 2014/`15/`16. Trump was trying to fulfill a campaign promise to 'drain the swamp'... Now, you prove that Trump's motive had anything to do with the election in 2020.
1
@pumpkinpaxon3648 I love Holmes. Okay... What can you possibly discover from more testimony that you don't already know? Trump attempted to extort an investigation into American Citizens involved in Ukrainian corruption. It was paramount on his mind. So What?! POTUS is obligated to root out U.S. criminal activity, especially in Government, no matter who did it. Running for President doesn't make you immune from investigation (as Trump well knows). You will never prove motive was for personal gain. The Democrats true objective is to taint the Senate and protect Biden, because they can't allow Sanders at the top of the ticket.
1
@kamkoz3574 That's True.
