  1. I come from a culture that where when we INVITED people to our bdays, we paid their meal, unless specifically said otherwise (which is extremely rare) I come from a culture where usually men fought on who will pay the bill, but everyone insisted that they'd pay the whole amount.

  2. I'd be terribly ashamed of myself if I invited people and tell them that they'd have to pay. If I was short on money, I'd host the even in a cheaper place, or at my home, with home cooked food. In fact when I did my birthday serving food I cooked, most people were very appreciative.
