We say dictator because last time he cancelled 48 mayors and appointed government people. We say dictator because he ALREADY cancelled an elected mayor and appointed the second party's candidate, who was from Erdogan's party. If you can't see the facts check your IQ and the definition of democracy.

@analyst4455 Υou can have your opinion and I can have mine. If your sultan decided that someone is terrorist just hours AFTER he won the elections, then the world can understand exactly what sultan's minions mean with "terrorist" If you Sultan decided that when someone is deemed "terrorist" and doesn't let the winning party come with another mayor FROM THE SAME PARTY, but he appoints the second party, which is AKP, then I understand exactly what happened. I got this information directly from turkish media. So much for your usual excuses about "Western media" But if you want to compare, western journalists are free to say whatever they want. Turkey - as a typical middle eastern regime - has the largest number if imprisoned journalists. If they dare say anything against the sultan, they go to prison. If you want to see which media lies the most, look at the number of imprisoned journalists.

Did he imprison journalists who criticized him? Yes Did he close newspapers, media etc? Yes. Did he imprison civilians who criticized him? Yes. Is he a dictator? YES.

Το be honest, I think that Iranians deserve their freedom from oppression more than Turks. Peoples of Europe will be supporting you, no matter our governments.

In August 2019, by decision of the Ministry of Interior, HDP mayors were removed in 48 municipalities in southeastern Turkey and government deputies were appointed in their place. In 2019 Erdogan decided that 48 mayors should be removed and appointed government deputies in their place. Even AS WE SPEAK, in a big city Van, he already removed the elected mayor and declared that the candidate of second party will become mayor (coincidentally from AKP)

@subutaynoyan5372 Easy: let's see how CHP will use the law about "insulting the president" ? Will they make laws about the independence of justice? Will they say that this law shouldn't exist or will they make most of it? How will they treat AKP opposition and AKP journalists? How will they treat DEM party and their mayors if CHP ever wins the presidential elections? Talking with CHP voters I'm not so sure. And most importantly, will they even vote CHP if RTE gives 20K pension to early retirees?

@muguruyarr Meanwhile Turks voted for Hudapar terrorists in some cities and there is no Turk who dared to call them out for being Hesbollah. How would you like it to be thrown out of Nato for that? So don't think that no one notices that you just call "terrorists" the ones you don't like, but you are pretty comfortable with all other terrorist groups. Especially with gray wolves which are practically terrorist groups in Europe.

@Johnirsss If I were you I wouldn't be so warm to other people learning turkish because they'll have access to what CHP voters say when they don't think that foreigners read. That will be a great shock to anyone learning turkish, and I think you know what I mean.

@jigimujigi Van chose a mayor. The sultan ALREADY cancelled the candidate and appointed the second party (AKP) as mayor. He did the same in 48 municipalities in 2019. It's not a "perspective". It's hard facts. Whether you like it or not there is a continuum betwen Norway's democracy and North Korea, and Turkey is closer to N. Korea than to Norway. Deal with it.

@koraybasus263 Where is their capital Ankara? Where is 90% of their land?

Half of CHP politicians and voters are pretty far-right by european standards.

YES. He still heavily influences the justice system. He still can imprison people for "insulting" him He still controls the press. Journalists receive lengthier prison sentences for reporting that people who murder their wives. Do you believe that he's democratic in any meaningful sense?

@GuyloveARTPOP I'm extremely surprised that there is even one Turk who can see that. It seems that the vast majority of Turks (even CHP Turks) are too much into conspiracy theories and general hatred/fear against everyone else.

@merve6987 Turkey got the most coverage during the earhquake. Are you sure you want to see more of that in the future.

@vectorfox4782 Turkish people won't act because Erdogan cancelled Kurdish mayors. Whoever thinks that CHP is progressive, european party will be totally surprised if they ever win the presidency.

What was the official name for almost100 years?

@mertnecati875 First of all who told you that there aren't Europeans gathering for people of Palestine? In what sort of village do you live and you have no information about the world?

In our "western block" whenever the main political party loses the local elections we know that it lost support and the next elections -if nothing major happens - they'll lose too. Sometimes Europeans don't fully comprehend the middle east, but still. When someone doesn't vote AKP in a polarized society it gives a very strong message.
