The reason flat earthers mostly use this model is precisely because they cannot explain the other difficulties for a FE model with a large, distant moon. Part of the problem with trying to reason with FEers is that they simply refuse to acknowledge the problems with completely contradictory explanations they come up with. Every answer they pull out of their behinds creates more problems than it solves, but they just wave away those problems and mutter something about conspiracies and atheists.

He covered that. A flat moon would appear to be elliptical in shape unless it was directly overhead. The moon we see is always round no matter when or where or from what angle you see it, so it must be either a 3D spherical object, or very, very, very far away (which creates other and even more insoluble problems for FEers).

If it's so far away that everyone sees the same face, how does it set? Why is it not visible to everyone on the entire planet 24/7? This is the sort of ad hoc nonsense flat earthers have to pull out of their behinds to pretend to believe their idiocy. If you disprove a small, close moon they claim it's large and distant. If you point out that a large, distant moon and a flat earth cannot possibly match real-world observations they claim it's small and local again. If you ask which it is, small/local or large/distant, they say no one knows the answer to this. If you point out the complete contradiction between their own arguments they just huff and puff something about Satan and atheism and NASA and call you a sheeple. So answer the question. You admit that the moon is a spherical object very far above the earth. If it's far enough to see the same face no matter where you are on the earth - say, > 200,000 miles - then how can it be visible to people on one part of the earth's surface but entirely invisible to people just a few thousand miles east or west? And how can it possibly set below the horizon?

@gardinbe782 Yes, but then the moon would be almost directly overhead and fully visible all of the time from every point on earth. Flattards need a small, local moon to explain why this isn't what we observe.

if the moon is so far away that it shows the same face and shape to every observer on the planet, how can it possibly not be visible 24/7 to everyone on the flat earth? Flat earth requires a small, local moon because that's the only way it could be visible from some regions but not from others at the same time. And yet, as we see in this video, a small, local moon is not possible given real-world observations that everyone has been able to make since the dawn of time.

Please provide photos of these different faces of the moon. They don't have to be your photos, any photos will do. Note: different orientations or lighting patterns of the same face do not qualify.

@saxoragnhildssn5443 If it's far enough away for the same face to be visible to everyone everywhere, it would be far enough away that it would always be directly overhead and visible for everyone everywhere on a flat surface. That's why FE requires a small, close sun and moon.

@anom3778 Science is a method. Natural philosophy existed long before the scientific method did. But Aristotle, clever as he was, didn't apply scientific method to his musings, otherwise he'd have easily disproven notions like ballistic objects always traveling in straight lines.

Okay, do just that. Draw a circular smiley face on the ceiling on one side of your room (preferably with washable crayons). Now walk to the other side of the room and look at your drawing. You see the same face, sure, but is the overall shape of the face still a circle, or does it appear to be an ellipse? Does the moon ever appear to be a narrow ellipse to any observer at any time anywhere on the earth? No, it does not. That's how your experiment will disprove the FE moon. As for the moon spinning, it spins at the exact same rate it revolves around the earth, so the same side of it is always facing us. If you'd paid attention the video explains that. As for the earth spinning, yes, exactly, that's why the moon rises and sets.
