  6.  @outermarker5801  The political frameworks of those wars, particularly those that took place during the Cold War were very different from World War Two. For example, in Korea the goal of the war was defined in terms of defeating the communist attempt to take over South Korea by force - which we did - rather than MacArthur's preference of a WW2-style total war ending in the occupation of the enemy's capital. This was because Truman judged the political risk of the latter strategy - the risk of provoking a global war and even a nuclear exchange - to be unacceptable. It was not because of any deficiencies in the fighting qualities of US of RoK soldiers, or because greater fanaticism and willingness to die made the Chinese forces invincible on the battlefield.
