@roxdegabba I would nitpick about Prussia fighting alone. Britain, Hanover, and a number of other German principalities were also on Prussia's side. Britain didn't contribute much in the way of ground troops on the continent but her massive financial subsidies were massively important in an age when the major constraint on countries' ability to field armies was finance much more than manpower or industry. In fact it was the end of British subsidies along with the near bankruptcy of the Austrian government that finally brought the war to a close.

"It was TOTALLY unfair for Hitler to backstab me before I was ready to backstab him!" - Stalin, probably

@DrRimantas What about them? None of the others is any kind of an ally to Russia. India and Brazil have closer ties to the US. And if you think China is your friend and will be there for you when you need them, you know nothing about the Chinese government. You're just a useful but completely expendable tool for them in their rivalry with the West.

They lost WW1 pretty badly. The country was just so huge that they could give up everything Germany demanded and still have vast area, resources, and population. But the world and particularly Eastern Europe would be pretty different today if the Allies hadn't forced Germany to give up its eastern conquests at Versailles.

And then people ask why Ukraine wanted to join NATO...

@portfolio91 That's complete fiction, like most of that (admittedly enjoyable) movie. Or more accurately, wrong war - that's something that happened in WW1, not WW2.

@ps-ic8pm Trump isn't a country and doesn't control the media.

@octavianpopescu4776 I won't argue with most of your comment, but how do you imagine Churchill and Roosevelt "sold" Eastern Europe to Stalin? Stalin's armies were occupying it, what were they supposed to do, start another war after the most horrific war in human history had just ended? Only this time with the added fun of having nuclear weapons from the start? Not to mention that a lot of intellectuals in the West sympathized with Stalin's communism more than Churchill and Roosevelt's capitalism. In fact, a lot of intellectuals in the West still do. They would say the truly free people were the ones in the Soviet sphere because they were free from capitalism.
