Isn't it odd how anything labelled 'Independent' is never anything of the sort. I suspect the conclusions were determined on the first day.

Yes, he is. So am I, and as a player in local League cricket in Lancashire, I recognise as accurate the comments he made.

You mean when Lord Patel dismissed Yorkshire's entire backroom staff, and Yorkshire consequently lost a case for wrongful dismissal? No, I haven't forgotten that at all.

I saw Ben's statement. Quite telling how unenthusiastic he seemed to be. Still, at least he will keep the job until Azeem Rafiq decides he wants it.

When you are as well paid as the board of the ECB, you will not risk anything to put that in jeopady.

The women's champion at Wimbledon gets £ 2 million, and will never be required to play more than three sets. The men's champion may need to play several five set matches. He also gets £2 million. Women's cricket can be fascinating to watch where two fairly even teams are concerned. There is not, however, anything like the same thrill factor as there is watching a great fast bowler delivering a 90*+ MPH bouncer .

But they won't be. The ECB will see to that. What their ideas might do to grass roots cricket doesn't bear thinking about.

It doesn't necessarily follow, but her comments on the news hardly suggested that her approach had been impartial.

Word of advice, mon vieux. Typing things in capital letters doesn't make them any more rational.

@cerneuffington2656 Actually, anti-semitic tweets. But once found out he apologised, so apparently that makes everything quite all right.

Indeed. The report, however, specificially targetted Cricket in Britain. As it was always intended that it should.

@stephfoxwell4620 Look at the backgrounds of all the members of the Committee, and it becomes clear exactly how impartial it truly was. They did the job demanded of them, and doubtless will be well rewarded for it. The sad think is that the ECB will immediately buckle to every demand they make.

@MegaWoody1963 Our women's team plays on a normal pitch, and there are some good players in their league. Our women's section is a thriving, successful one. Please don't tell Cindy, however, as we are clearly doing something which wouldn't suit her and her committee's agenda.

@DiscourseToday He also put his name to a ludicrous book claiming all sorts of nonsense about inventions. He was a great cricketer, but he certainly, like Mr. Rafiq, had a considerable agenda of his own.

@timothysmart8528 Our club has a lot of juniors who haven't played cricket at their state schools. Largely because the schools sold off their playing fields long ago. When the schools aren't much interested, we, and other local clubs, get involved instead. That is why our qualified coaches invite them to come to our club on selected evenings each week for nets and coaching. Quite a number have progressed through our system into our senior teams.
