  1. Canadian physician Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae wrote the poem 'In Flanders Fields' which was published in December 1915, which gave rise to the Poppy idea. The last lines read :- 'If ye break faith with us who die. We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.' Perhaps someone should make Charles aware of this?

  2. At times like this, it is a source of constant pleasure to me that Major General John Lambert, one of Cromwell's officers, was a forebear of mine. His genetic legacy within me is coming more to the fore as I observe the antics of this 'king' and his open contempt for those of us who fund his extravagent lifestyle.
