When a former Oil Company executive was appointed to the senior Archbishopric in the Church of England, why would anyone be surprised that he would make a total pig's ear of it?

@zb7293 Welby worked for eleven years in the oil industry, five of them for the French oil company Elf Aquitaine based in Paris. In 1984 he became treasurer of the oil exploration group Enterprise Oil plc in London, where he was mainly concerned with West African and North Sea oil projects. He retired from his executive position in 1989. Interestingly, when he applied for Ordination, the Bishop of Kensington rejected him, telling him that :- "There is no place for you in the Church of England." Since then, it appears that Justin Welby has no place for the Church of England.
