  1. It is, as Jane Austen wrote, 'A truth universally acknowledged....' that people of the right (or Far Right, in the words of our Dear Leader) are rude & foul mouthed, whilst those of a liberal (Far Left) disposition, are gently spoken, polite, and habitually genteel in manner.

The celebrated 'Frankly my dear, I don't give a dam' of Gone with the Wind fame, is not actually swearing, as a Dam was a small Indian coin of little value, introduced by Sher Shah Suri during his rule of India between 1540 and 1545. It was almost worthless, hence the later disparaging references to it. As someone once, allegedly, said, 'Not a lot of people know that.'
