@JohnThomas-hv3nd He instructed the driver to stop. The driver responded by driving the car directly at him. What do you suggest the officer ought to have done? Waited until the car had hit him before responding, perhaps? Of course there should be an investigation, but given that murder is defined as ' when a person of sound mind unlawfully kills another person and they have the intention to kill,' how can this charge possibly be justified? Do you suggest that the officer concerned started his shift with the idea that 'I think I'll kill someone today' foremost in his mind? Simplt fact - If you drive a motor vehicle directly at an armed policeman, be aware of the probable consequences.

Why this insistence that Kaba was 'unarmed?' If you deliberately drive a car directly at someone, I would respectfully submit that the car itself makes a rather effective weapon. Speaking personally, I am completely certain that, if a police officer, armed or not, stood directly in front of my car and signalled me to stop, I would comply. Perhaps I am just odd that way?

@wjf0ne 'they just wanted the car.' You forgot the next two words, which were 'to stop.' The driver was faced by a policeman instructing him to stop. He responded by driving the car directly at him.

@andrewbreese3037 Tell that to the BBC, who persist in stressing that he was 'unarmed.' - Apparently, driving a car directly at someone doesn't count. The Beeb also shows a photograph of a smiling young man in a nice shirt. The other photos. which appeared at the time, of him as a member of a gang of menacing looking thugs, have, oddly, vanished.

@njoyingtube1 I haven't described anything, other that Kaba was shot when driving a car at a police officer. There is nothing in the media to suggest that he was anything other than a lovely young man. What rivals might these be to which you refer?

@fredgillespie5855 Have you seen one showing that he didn't?

@petespirals What was an unmarked car?

@stuartwilliams8663 Perhaps you might look uo the legal definition of murder. You might also ask yourself whether a motor vehicle is or is not a weapon, in the right, or more accurately, wrong, circumstances.

@petespirals Sorry, mon brave. The car he was driving was followed by unmarked police cars, but the officer who shot him had got out of a marked car and approached on foot. Police vehicles were said by witnesses to have boxed the car in, and witnesses claimed that Kaba ignored repeated orders to get out of the vehicle, and was trying to ram the Audi through the roadblock. Armed officers exited their vehicles then approached the Audi on foot.

@stuartwilliams8663 Whether I am a 'pathetic individual' or not is for people who actually know me to decide. Certainly, I have never suggested that 'the Police have the right to shoot anyone they deem as a threat,' unless of course you can direct me to where I wrote that. I do, however, belong to a steadily declining number who still cling optimistically to the idea that freedom of expression and opinion is desirable. You, it seems, do not.

@stuartwilliams8663 Where am I back tracking? Where did I infer that Kaba needed to be shot? Where did I infer that there was no investigation? Where did I say that the officer should not have been charged? I really don't much care whether you stand by your post or not.

@jamesoneill2933 You don't consider the car itself a weapon?
