@SparrowwithaMachinegun Perhaps something slightly more dignified than a blatant photo opportunity? Doubtless followed by a nice meal at the local Council Hall?

@plechaim Indeed. A tedious public duty to be concluded as quickly as possible. Still the press photos. will be handy propaganda, won't they?

@mr.coolio4321 Last time I looked, Johnson was not Prime Minister. Starmer had a chance. He was there for a couple of minutes, got the whole tedious event over with, then leapt into his car and disappeared.

@almac521 No, they won't. Reeves' recent announcement was basically her laughing in the face of the public - 'We have a huge majority. I can do anything I want, and you little people can do nothing about it.'

@valentineX1X The problem is not the 52% of people who voted, but the 48% who didn't.

@jameshurcombe2049 Wellington was born in Dublin, but that didn't make him Irish. This person was born in Wales, but that doesn't make him Welsh. Or British for that matter.

@SparrowwithaMachinegun I suppose he might have asked that the photographers were kept away from the scene in order to pay respects privately, but presumably that would have occurred to his 'people' perhaps?

@burgwaseaten8797 Odd that the Press knew precisely when he would be there then, wasn't it? Still what is the point of a Press Office if it doesn't let you take advantage of a photo opportunity? I am not, by the way, mad ( if that is what your illiterate post is trying to say), but I am deeply disappointed by the self-centred creatures, of all parties, who masquerade as Politicians in these debased times.

@robertcreighton4635 Actually, he looks like someone hurrying through a distasteful task for the sake of the photo opportunity. Just, of course, as Sunak would have done.

@walter4180 Spike Milligan was born in India. Did that make him Indian? A famous cricketer, Ted Dexter, was born in Italy. Did that make him Italian? No. That isn't how it works at all. Your identity is a result of your culture, not of geography.

@glennborrageiro6257 And that justifies it, does it?
1
@s6edge706 Actually, it isn't a question of 'fault' but of the cynicism on display.

@Будьтелюбязніодиндоодного 'How long has Keir Starmer been in the job, just let him get on with being Prime Minister, the best Prime Minister we have had for years.' You make that assessment after three weeks? Oh well.

@SparrowwithaMachinegun I doubt anyone would have argued had photographers been asked to vacate the area whilst Starmer paid his respects in private. Presumably, the idea simply did not occur to him, nor to his advisors. I wasn't aware that I was making it all about him. The same comments would have applied to any politician behaving in this cynical manner.
