  1.  @Bobisalive  Perhaps you are unaware that it was the Blair Presidency (in all but name) which commenced the politicisation of the Civil Service?

  3.  @Bobisalive  You should read Tony Butcher's article in 'Teaching Public Administration' Volume 18, from Spring 1998. In particular his comments about the Freedom of Information Act, the implications it had for the workings of the Civil Service, and the immediate appointment of a number of 'special advisers to complement the permanent bureaucracy.' Notice how early the trend was observed?
