  2. True. The detestable John Nott was in the early stages of destroying the Royal Navy. His successors, however, have done even more damage than his wildest dreams imagined.

  3.  @PhilbyFavourites  I did hear, and I would love to believe it, that as Nott 'inspected' the ships of the Task Force in Portsmouth, his naval guide took enormous pleasure in pointing out to him those ships which were on his 'Scrap' or 'For Sale cheap to good owner' lists.
