@johnpisciotto7115 Sorry, but you appear to be thinking of the 'Watchmaker of Kirkwall' myth. This was totally debunked years ago.

@johnpisciotto7115 There is no reference to the Watchmaker in any German archive, or in the memoirs of Doenitz or Raeder. Kirkwall has a population of around 9,000 even today. In the 1920s the population would have been nearer 6,000. Research by a historian as far back as the late 1940s failed to shed any light on the claim, and the best known watchmaker in the town, who had worked there over 20 years, denied the existence of any such individual. In such a small town, an individual with a foreign accent would have stood out. At the very least, people would have remembered him.
