@andrewmunn1724 Stalin did claim that Hitler was in hiding in the British occupation zone in Germany. Clearly the impending Cold War couldn't possibly have any connection with this claim. Uncle Joe a liar? NEVER!!

@andrewmunn1724 A considerable number of other witnesses also gave accounts. General Weidling, for example, the commandant of Berlin, had a final meeting with Hitler on the morning of 30 April. How could he have done that if Hitler had already departed? Is it conceivable that a vast number of separate individuals could have been drawn into, and maintained, a vast conspiracy of misinformation, often at considerable personal cost, for years?

So, staying in Berlin, under fairly constant risk from Anglo-American bombing and, later, Soviet artillery, was all part of his cunning plan? Conspiracy theorists fascinate me.
