@ashleywilson2072 Not only did she seek to become Bishop of London, but Justin Welby argued her case.
15
@SimonWallwork Actually, her memory is fairly sharp when recalling events which she believes show her in a positive light, or when remembering undocumented conversations in office corridors. It is simply everything else that has faded from her recollection.

@becky2235 It was called the 'Liverpool Care Pathway.' I think the NHS got the idea from events in 1930s Germany.

@UkrainesExsplodingScooters 'Starmer the man of Steel just crushed the FAR RIGHT and the UK streets just got a lot safer.' Perhaps you fail to appreciate that using sarcasm doesn't always work, as some people might think you are being serious?
5
Problem with things like this is that a 'right' inevitably morphs into an 'obligation.'
4
@brianmoran. Of course it won't. These people always close ranks and protect their own.
4
@Senbei01 Sadly, that is what tends to happen when such laws are introduced. There was a case in, I believe, Austria, some years ago, when a group of nurses began by helping on their way people who were terminally ill and in great pain, but ended by removing anyone who they perceived to be a nuisance by asking for a drink in the middle of the night.
4
@paulwhateley7850 'That’s just a negative perception - legislation can mandate safeguards. It isn’t hard.' In some countries, such as Germany, Canada, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands, a terminal diagnosis is not even a requirement, and voluntary euthanasia is additionally allowed. Read the post from 'invisible' for the reality of what this Bill might easily create.
3
Why, exactly? He doesn't make the decisions. Politicians do.
3
I don't think anyone believes that she is the only guilty person. As Group CEO for much of the period, however, she is hardly a 'scapegoat.' She was the person at the top when this was happening.
3
Justin Welby thought she had. He recommended that she should become Bishop of London. Oddly, he hasn't said much on the subject recently.
2
They won't. Governments will throw vast amounts of taxpayers' money at it, but the real villains will, as usual, avoid any punishment at all.
2
@livingdead233 I don't see President Blair saying much at the moment either.
2
What the Dear Leader really means is, 'Rules matter. You need to know what they are so that you can more efficiently avoid them.'
2
@3bebles When Welby first applied for ordination, his Bishop told him that 'there is no place for you in the Church of England.'
2
I didn't know that Trump had been Group CEO of the Post Office. When was that?
2
@nickmannion3879 The Bill is to be put forward by Labour MP Kim Leadbeater. So, it isn't a LibDem or a Tory after all. It seems that someone is 'one eyed and ill informed' doesn't it?
2
@Shadow_Wraith To be honest, anyone who thinks that the title 'Man of Steel' ( i.e., Joe Stalin) is a compliment is either deeply delusional, simply trying and failing to be sarcastic, or David Lammy.
2
It is becoming more and more obvious that people like Sunak and this berk are double-agents in the service of the Labour Party. No one could possibly be this incompetent by accident. Except, of couse, for Paula Vennells & Alice Perkins?
1
What leads you to that conclusion?
1
There is a difference between 'she didn't know' and 'she didn't care.'
1
@craig361 The Winter Fuel Allowance was introduced by a Labour government. Throughout their time in office, the 'evil' Tories continued the payment. Withdrawal of the payment was just about the first thing Dear Rachel did. Certainly, some pensioners don't need it, but presumably you would argue that those just above the benefits limit, who are already struggling, are merely collateral damage as the Dear Leader creates his idea of Utopia?
1
They will, however, happily stroll through the voting lobbies in obedience to whatever instructions the Whips give them.
1
Given her assets, do you really think she needs a job?
1
Oh. The P{ost Office scandal was entirely a Tory one, was it? 'President' Blair and Gordon Brown were innocent of any criticism, I suppose?
1
It does raise a number of questions about his judgement. I notice he has been uncharacteristically silent about the issue recently.
1
I believe some of the Fujitsu creatures are still to give their evidence.
1
@DiRtYLaWs2007 You must be unaware of people like the noble Lord Watson of Wyre Forest?
1
I wonder how many similar people are in such positions in other large organisations?
1
@Shadow_Wraith Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa. I intended the reply to have been to one Richard Marsden. Sorry!
1
And replaced with what? 'Lord Protector' perhaps? Don't give the Dear Leader ideas.
1
She was the Group Chief Executive. He entire argument has been 'no-one ever told me anything.'
1
Odd how so many dynamic, highly professional, smart, women executives are quick to play the 'I'm just an innocent nice little girl being bullied by rough, rude men' card when they find themselves in situations like this.
