  1. It is simply the Post Office Inquiry defence, used by a whole host of people. 'I cannot recall' is not a denial, but simply an avoiding mechanism. Giving a Manager the opportunity to resign when, potentially, caught out in wrongdoing is not uncommon. It resolves the problem without the necessity of a potentially damaging investigation.
