To invade Britain, there are numerous nations in the way, almost all of whom are members of Nato. What you are suggesting is akin to the idea that, perhaps, Germany could have attacked Britain in 1940, without attacking Denmark, Norway, Belgium, The Netherlands, and France first. Put simply, ABSURD.

Mind you, the first of the new Type 26 frigates, HMS Glasgow, will require at least eleven years from commencement of construction (2017) to completion (2028?). Japanese yards can build a frigate in four years! If only Britain's MoD was not so totally unfit for purpose!!
