What was idiotic about writing about it after the war?

@nikbear Which German authors 'confirmed' that they thought they were secure? Do you think that the Germans would have happily assumed that a cypher over 25 years old was still secure? The German military adopted the early Enigma in 1928, by the way, and the German Navy knew as early as November 1914 that their SKM code had been compromised. Moreover, they also knew that their codes had fallen into Allied hands at the end of the war. They may perhaps have believed that some of their codes were still secure during the war, but would not have been so gullible after 1918.

Or, the outrage continuation of the campaign might have caused in the United States may well have brought into the war on the Allied side rather earlier than happened historically.
