By which time the Anglo-French would have completely outbuilt the Germans in military equipment, and the German economy would have collapsed anyway.

@stironeceno What leads you to believe that there was no Battle of the Atlantic before the end of December, 1941?

@stironeceno What do you think the Battle of the Atlantic was? The US navy played a subsidiary role, mainly in support of convoys from America to the Mediterranean area of operations. The bulk of escorts, particularly in the North Atlantic, were British & Canadian. The USAAF did, however, provide air cover in the North Atlantic, along with the British Coastal Command.

@stironeceno So what? The Battle began in September, 1939, and ended in May 1945. You do understand that there were a number of battles in WW2 which didn't involve the United States, do you? Incidentally, in view of your comment that 'The US didn't fight in the Atlantic till 1042' did they stop sending convoys after the defeat of Harold Godwinson at Hastings in 1066?
