@TheMikerandazzo The Germans were never able to conquer Britain in WW2, as they never had a fleet worthy of the name. In North Africa and Tunisia, US forces were in the minority. In Italy there were as many British & Commonwealth troops as American troops. At D-Day, more than two thirds of the landing craft were British crewed, over two thirds of the warships were British, two thirds of the 11600 aircraft were British, and two thirds of the troops who landed on 6 June were Canadian & British. By any unbiased calculation, the US only truly became the senior partner for about the last nine months of the war.
