@draoi99 Certainly it would be merely symbolic, but the nauseating manner with which these creatures, every year, line up and say that 'we really don't want to accept this rise in our pay, but the figure is determined by an independent panel, and it would be inappropriate not to accept it' is rather annoying. Especially when they say it without the slightest trace of a smirk, of course.

@GretsGarbo I wonder if it is simply coincidence that a Blair lackey, Lord Falconer of Thoroton, is pushing an Assisted Dying Bill in the House of the Living Dead, aka the Lords? Perhaps the first step on the road to a Euthanasia Bill, in which inconvenient people can be removed with the minimum of fuss. For their own good, and for the benefit of society, of course! Presumably, noble members of the Lords will be exempt from any such bill, which would only apply to the peasantry.

@Benzknees What you seem to suggest is that Reform voters should accept the lesser of two evils? The most recent 'Tory' government was significantly to the left of anything Harold Wilson might have believed possible.

@Benzknees Rather than get into a useless argument about old Harold, perhaps you might explainwhy you think I voted Reform. I simply made a comment, shared by many, about a Tory party which had totally lost its way, and you immediately jump to conclusions.

Which is hardly the same as claiming that Labour or the Conservatives were evil in themselves. To refer you to one definition, from the Collins Dictionary :- 'The lesser of two evils.' 'If you have two choices, but think that they are both bad, you can describe the one which is less bad as the lesser of two evils, or the lesser evil.' I am sorry that you do not understand common English usage.

@Benzknees 'Pedantry?' As language is the primary means of communication, I consider it important to use it accurately. Perhaps you do not? I do not doubt that the growth of Reform benefitted Labour. It is a cause for sadness that you refuse to consider what generated that growth. I implied nothing, by the way. I simply stated my considered opinion. I value freedom of speech, for however long it may last.

Isn't Reeves at least, post election, simply being honest by saying, in effect, 'We have a huge majority, and I can do whatever I want. I choose to look after the Labour core vote, and the rest of you, the ones who didn't vote for Labour, or didn't vote at all, will pay for it. Now, nurses, how much would you like 15%, 20%? Just name a figure, and I will find it.'
