History Debunked

Comments by "doveton sturdee" (@dovetonsturdee7033) on "Should Britain re-join the European Union?" video.
Not really, the question posed was the following :- 'The Government has announced the results of the renegotiation of the United Kingdom's terms of membership of the European Community. Do you think the United Kingdom should stay in the European Community (the Common Market)?' The reference was to a trading organisation, not to a political entity. I doubt anyone whould have had serious misgivings about such an idea, but the gradual evolution into, effectively, a European Empire ruled by unelected officials in Brussels & Strasbourg, and taking political decisions out of the hands of 'independent' nations is a totally different, and perhaps even sinister, issue. Rather like voting for 'Assisted Dying' only to find that it has morphed into 'Euthanasia for the Good of the State' a few years later, some might argue?

@peterc.1618 What the politicians knew or didn't know is not the issue. The fact is that most of them, and Heath in particular, kept any suggestion of political union from the public. Had an extra sentence been added to the original question, stating that 'The ultimate intention is that Great Britain should become a minor part of a much larger European Superstate' do you consider that that might have affected the way people vote? Or do you consider it appropriate that politicians should lie to the peasantry?
