  3. Not entirely relevant, but the attitudes of some teachers are interesting, to say the least. A few years ago, my daughter, then in her teens, was given a project to complete about the Battle of Britain and the Blitz. I helped her with it, and was annoyed to discover that she received an average mark. I made an appointment to see the teacher, whose response to my questioning was along the lines of 'I am a qualified & experienced teacher. What makes you think that you can possibly know more than me?' I showed her two books which had been published about the very same subject, of which I was the author, and said ' I have a First in History. Checkmate, I suggest.' My daughter was, of course, furious!
