I assume he can claim substantial expenses for turning out at the week-end. He might even be given a new suit by Lord Alli for the occasion.

Nothing. But those planning any potential disruption are becoming more and more confident as little or nothing is done to challenge them. The maxim 'the squeaky wheel gets the most oil' applies. 'Appeasement' is another relevant term.

@truth.952 Respect for the Fallen is far more important than showing contempt for a politician cynically pretending to be sincere. Turning backs on the Dear Leader would be completely inappropriate, and would defile the day.

@jbradshaw7 I expect he will be looking on the bright side, however. He will be claiming additional expenses because of the tedious need to work both Saturday & Sunday, and perhaps Lord Alli bought him a new suit or two so that he could pretend to look sincere.

@barbaracleverly9058 Really? The politicians leave before the march past. Do you really seek to disrespect those who march? Moreover, like it or not, the Dear Leader places his wreath on behalf of the nation. Don't you know that?

@Raven4508 What gives you the right to speak for the Fallen?

@MushMushMuscovaMush Well, it would certainly insult the veterans who march past, not to mention the memory of the Fallen. Do you really want to reduce Remembrance Sunday to a political stunt?

@MushMushMuscovaMush Like it or not, the Dear Leader is the political leader of this country, however unworthy of the position he might be. He places the wreath on behalf of the British people. The action you suggest would reduce the occasion from a solemn national act of Remembrance to a mere political stunt.

@MushMushMuscovaMush Fine. That is your prerogative, even if you are wrong.
