@paulchadwick9419 Perhaps you are unaware that the 4,000 number was a Labour one, when the idea of abolishing the Winter Fuel Payment was first mooted by the 'evil' tories? Of course no-one has died yet. The winter hasn't arrived, has it?

@paulchadwick9419 Apart from 'Labour good, Tories bad' you haven't really any argument, have you?

@paulchadwick9419 Well, it is what the Labour Party claimed. Surely you don't doubt their absolute integrity? Moreover, if there is a severe sinter, and these people do die, won't it be a bit late for Starmer to say, 'Oh dear. What a shame?'

Personally, I don't much care whether the Chancellor is a woman, a man, or a performing chimp. What matters is what is in the budget.

Oh look! A 'socialist' cheering on a party which seems determined to punish the lower orders. How bizarre.

@paulchadwick9419 What investment? If you impose additional costs on small businesses and the private sector, they will respond by cutting costs simply in order to survive, and the easiest way to do that is to reduce the size of their workforce. Reeves, of course, has never worked in the private sector, and seems neither to know nor care about the reality of how it functions. The private sector is the cash cow which funds the public sector, How will reducing the strength of the cash cow benefit anyone? Basic economics, as my old MD repeated at our managers' meetings. - 'It takes £10 of revenue to make £1 of profit. It takes £1 of cost savings to do the same.' It isn't PhD Economics. It is painfully obvious. Take the blinkers off your spectacles.

But if, like Dear Rachel, you have never worked in the private sector, and neither know nor care how it actually functions, you cannot be expected to know that. So long as the public sector and the unions are appeased, that is all that matters to her.

Have some compassion. She has never worked in the private sector. How can you expect her to have the faintest idea, or even interest, about how it actually functions?
