Someone in the Labour party needs, and quickly, to explain to Sir Keir that he is no longer Leader of the Opposition, where he could have said more or less anything he wished. As Prime Minister, he needs to learn that his words now have consquences, and his immediate response, of demonising large numbers of people by including them en masse with a small extremist group, will do nothing to alleviate the situation, but will probably exacerbate it. I fear that he has failed this, the first major test of his premiership.
