@DarkCriimes You need to understand that there are few things more dangerous than a desperate politician. Starmer's government has stumbled from one domestic crisis to another, and he is quite remarkably unpopular in Britain. He presumably thinks, or has been persuaded, that an exciting military adventure in eastern Europe is just the thing to restore his popularity in the UK. Indeed, perhaps he even believes that greeting the first few body bags back home with a solemn and dignified demeanour will win him the public respect he has forfeited. So, yes, I do believe that he is posturing in search of personal political gain. I even wonder if his inspiration is one Leopoldo Galtieri, who likewise saw military action as a diversion from donestic failure.

You really do not believe that Starmer is both 'posturing' and 'posing?' Astonishing!!!

@leod-sigefast You might find this hard to accept, but opposing Starmer's enthusiasm for an exciting military adventure in eastern Europe is hardly the opinion solely of 'Russian trolls' although I appreciate making such an allegation saves you the need to attempt rational debate, of course.

@lindafielding6733 I submit that very few actually believe that seeking to extend the war in Ukraine for personal political reasons is seen as good for Ukraine, Britain, or anyone else. Except Starmer, of course.
4
That presupposes that she had a choice in the matter, doesn't it?

@lindafielding6733 Now I understand. You have a wicked sense of humour.

@1703clara "Qui tacet consentire videtur" It would be wrong of me not to react to some of the simple-minded and naive comments on here, although, even if you are unwilling to grasp the concept, expressing a different opinion is not, in any sense of the word, 'trolling.'
2
I don't think that events in Crimea in 1853 - 1856 are entirely relevant. Moreover, nor should you.
2
Suggesting that Starmer's plan is "Overly simplistic and naive" is unfair. It is nowhere near that well thought out.
2
@1703clara Do dissenting opinions always upset you so?

Isn't that Angela von der Leyen in the picture? The woman who, as German Defence Minister, sent German troops to a NATO exercise with brooksticks in lieu of weapons. Oh well, Onward & upward, I suppose!
1
@denisegodfrey2899 The difference, I suggest, is that Starmer's approach will simply get more Europeans killed. What is it about potentially extending the war in Ukraine which seems to appeal to you?
1
@1703clara I suspect that you might have passed that point. Perhaps you haven't seen the movie, 'A Man For All Seasons?'

Both are seriously unpopular politicians, and there are few things more dangerous than unpopular politicians. Currently, each is trying to outdo the other in the 'absurd posturing on the world stage' competition.
