  1. You think that East-West relations were not already sour before the speech, or that the United States did not already view the Soviet Union in that light? WRONG You think that Churchill was responsible for Gallipoli? WRONG. He proposed the operation as an alternative to the Western Front, as a means of detaching the Ottoman Empire from Germany, and Asquith authorised it, but Churchill did not plan it.
