As Plan Red related to the late 1920s and early 1930s, exactly what has the status of the UK after 1945 got to do with anything at all?

Not correct. Certainly France & Italy wanted to get hold of some of the High Seas Fleet, but the British didn't. Indeed, they didn't want France and Italy to acquire any either, so the scuttle was actually, from the British point of view, good news.

I think you will find the figure to be nearer 600, at least according to two American naval historians whose works I have read.

@intelligent2459 Actually, British weapons production outmatched that of Germany from 1940 on.

@intelligent2459 Sorry? Who do you think actually won the Battle of the Atlantic? The Germans missed far more convoys than they detected.

@intelligent2459 Just a small point. In July, 1940, the Germany Navy had precisely NO landing craft, so the idea of an invasion attempt then is absurd. Mind you, it was equally absurd in September, when the British had around 70 cruisers and destroyers within four hours' steaming of Dover.

@intelligent2459 Really? After Crete the Germans lost faith in airborne troops, and used them as infantry instead.

@intelligent2459 Aircraft Production 1940 : UK 15049, Germany 10826. 1941 UK 20094, Germany 12401. Tank Production 1940 : UK 1379 Germany 1139. 1941 UK 4837, Germany 2373. The figures get more extreme with each succeeding year. By the way, the Battle of the Atlantic involved convoying supplies across, not producing these supplies, and the British & Canadians won it. Of course, US production was a vital factor in the eventual defeat of Germany, but it wasn't in the survival of Britain. German conquest of the British Isles without a navy, was never a realistic possibility. As Bonaparte said 'Can an Elephant fight a Whale?'

@intelligent2459 Really? What are the correct figures, then, and what is your source for them?
