'People' didn't. Or, at least, four out of every five of the electorate didn't. Welcome to the glories of the outdated first past the post system, to which both Labour and the Tories are devoted.
1
Four years? In June 1940, Genial Uncle Joe & adolf were best pals. The German campaign in France was only possible because of Soviet supplied raw materials.
1
How is wishing someone dead 'free speech?'
1
@bobflyman However inappropriate some might consider that, the money was spent on a public building, for the use of a series of Prime Ministers and their staff. Not for Johnson's personal benefit. It was not a 'freebie' for Johnson, or anyone else.
1
I thought Shapps had moved onwards and upwards. What has this to do with him?
1
What? Resign from £91,000 and generous expenses for the next four years? Hardly likely to happen.
1
@DilipKumar-o6e5k Really? Where are the 'better tech' solutions to replace Albion & Bulwark? Do tell.
1
No.
1
Imagine how embarrassed he must have been when made Foreign Secretary for a few days, only to find that he was second choice after Harrogate Billy Hague turned it down.
1
Did Rachel not simply say, 'Despite only getting 1/3rd of the vote, we have a huge parliamentary majority. We can do whatever we want, and no-one can stop us?'
1
'Its not racist to mock Allah or mention it after all IT DOESNT EXIST' Turn up at your local Mosque and say that.
1
Perhaps his Green Card expires soon, and he is eager to take advantage of it?
1
People never stop talking about what happened! Sadly, they tend to be half-wits who watch a conspiracy video, swallow it whole, and proclaim themselves instant experts.
1
I doubt many 90+ years olds were at such parades. What Sunak did was unacceptable.
1
@KILLER.KNIGHT Manchester London Road and Sheffield to Marylebone. It was allowed to run down after Nationalisation, before being knifed by Beeching, with the encouragement of the despicable Ernest Marples.
1
Good luck. The MP letters are in a poorly made CGI image which appeared on line around 2000, and have been ignored or denied by every expedition.
1
But as the Rev. Vennells would doubtless say, 'he was merely one of the little people. Not important at all.'
1
We northern persons demand special coaches in which to transport our Whippets & Pigeons, as well as suitable places to leave our flat caps.
1
@ArcadeStunfisk But I understand from the manifesto that Labour had a plan?
1
@sebsebski2829 No, the Squadron-Leader who made the comment was white, and male.
1
As Lucy rather implied, 'I am a wealthy politician, and I am not interested in the slightest in the welfare of elderly people who most likely didn't vote Labour anyway.'
1
A senior officer with integrity? She won't last long, if she challenges the 'agenda.'
1
Isn't it more 'putting self before party before country?'
1
'I don't accept claims Labour broke promise over farmers' inheritance tax' Just as I don't accept that I will never open the batting for England in a Test Match at Old Trafford, Diana. We are both wrong, but at least I have the integrity to accept the fact.
1
John Seldom Glummer? Good heavens, I thought he had shuffled off his mortal years ago.
1
Amazing how one person can be so desperately unfortunate, isn't it?
1
@Michael-yq2ut Oxford English Dictionary definition :- Invent : (1).make up (an idea, name, story, etc.), especially so as to deceive someone. (2). create or design (something that has not existed before). Work it out.
1
'Subtle?' What would be a more overt remark? Recommending the use of Zyklon B?
1
Presumably, the (unnamed) Squadron Leader who sent out those e-mails is now an (unnamed) Air Vice Marshal?
1
No. It's a group of Caribbean politicians on the make.
1
There are few things on earth more dangerous than unpopular dictatorial politicians, as President Macron and Starmer are.
1
Huge payout? An Olympic cost $7.5 million to build, and White Star received $5 million from Lloyds. Those are the actual facts. Oh, and the wreck is indisputably that of Titanic, however much half-wits might seek to disagree.
1
I expect that Trump will be just as deeply moved by the Dear Leader's message as would be appropriate.
1
There was no one opposed to the Fed. aboard Titanic. That is simply a conspiracy myth begun by an author in a book from 1995.
1
@lastlast2078 Whether they would or not is irrelevant. The fact is that, now, there will probably be no investment. Please explain how that benefits anyone?
1
It isn't P & O. It is P & Os parent company.
1
@wilhelm4321 But hasn't the Dear Leader been pretending for years that he is a living Saint?
1
@adamtovey8721 Didn't our beloved Chancellor declare her posh frock freebies as 'office support?'
1
@adamtovey8721 But didn't Rachel the Granny Freezer declare as 'Office Support' her freeby posh frocks?
1
@adamtovey8721 'I mean , if that's a scandal, we need a new definition of the word.' I haven't used the word 'scandal' as I see it for what it is. Basically, corrupt Labour politicians accepting 'gifts' in return for favours, after self-righteously condemning corrupt Tory politicians for doing exactly the same.
1
The unspoken worry must be how many other large organisations are infested with creatures like this one?
1
Perhaps, in the overall scheme of things, slashing the Fire Department's budget was not the smartest thing to do?
1
@ianashton1593 Ah, but their salaries are determined by a totally independent & impartial body (honest!) and it wouldn't be appropriate to refuse any increase, would it? There is all-party support for this, of course.
1
@grumpyoldgirl8582 Unwise. If members of the House of Peers didn't have a safe and comfortable place to sleep, they would only be found wandering the streets in their pyjamas and slippers, thus placing the Health Services under more pressure.
1
@jostrong9364 No, he doesn't. Does that mean that every pensioner should be denied it, in your opinion?
1
@peterwilliamallen1063 I doubt that they will, as the rolling stock for the two lines will be completely different.
1
What could possibly suggest that the sinking was deliberate?
1
In any normal nation, the idea of paying vast amounts of money for events which ended 200 years ago would be ridiculed by politicians of all sides. Unfortunately, so sort of brain virus seems to be widespread among many politicians in the UK.
1
Perhaps the Dear Leader will delay releasing the news that he intends to give the two aircraft carriers to North Korea until the New Year?
1
Rather more than a foot hold. They had just taken Rome. Alhough General Clark, who knew how imminent D--Day was, chose personal glory for himself rather than the destruction of German forces retreating from Cassino.
