  3. You mean how Titanic was switched with Britannic, which only entered service, as a hospital ship, in December, 1915, and which had only been launched at the end of February, 1914? That Britannic? Oh, and the claim that Astor, and Guggenheim for that matter, opposed the Fed. is totally unsubstantiated by any actual evidence, whilst there is considerable documentary evidence that Straus was a supporter of it. Live them, they purchased the slave from their African overlords or Arab slave traders, in exchange for European trade goods, How is it, then, that slavery didn't really help to establish Portugal? Your entire analogy is a false one. The Industrial Revolution established Britain. By the time of the Industrial Revolution, the slave trade had already been largely eradicated. By the British Parliament & the British Royal Navy, in point of fact.

You will find 13 who reported a split, 4 who didn't and 65 who either didn't know, weren't asked, or expressed no opinion either way.

Attempting to steam anywhere with a series of holes in the forward hull would, firstly, increase pressure on the damaged compartments, and secondly, prevent the launching of lifeboats. Your idea would have killed everyone aboard.

  19.  @SaanichtonMinistries  Look at the effect on Britannic when Captain Bartlett tried to steam towards Kea. Britannic was better protected than Titanic, having benefitted from the results of the post-Titanic Inquiry. She sank in 55 minutes, having churned up two lifeboats and their passengers.

  29. No. No-one from Harland & Wolff ever said such a thing. Shipbuilders like H & W were well aware that a ship displacing over 50,000 tons was quite capable of sinking.

  34. No, it doesn't. The belief at the time was that the davits could not cope with the weight of an unsupported fully laden lifeboat. The procedure was that the boat would be launched and then, when supported by the sea, would return to fill up.
